Doha, Qatar- The Qatari officials recently held a meeting with the Special Representative of the European Union to the Gulf region in Doha to discuss the ways of increasing security and defence cooperation. The negotiations were aimed at regional stability, issues of the Middle East and the possibilities of closer cooperation between Qatar and the EU.
High-Level Meetings on Regional Security
The Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi has also discussed with the EU envoy the present situation in the region in terms of security. The talks focused on diplomatic solutions and peaceful resolution of conflicts as one of the major mechanisms of easing tensions in the Gulf region.
Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and the official spokesman of the ministry of foreign affairs also met with the EU representative. He emphasized the need to expand defence and security relations and renewed Qatar dedication to its association with the European Union.
Defence Cooperation and Strategic Coordination
Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State of Defence Affairs, talked about how to increase defence cooperation, and strategic coordination. These negotiations were aimed at discussing security issues in the Gulf and developing the opportunities of the common projects with the EU.
Commitment to Regional Stability
Qatari and EU officials emphasized the need to enhance the security in the region, as well as to improve the collaboration in the areas of mutual interests. These conferences indicate a long-term commitment to the dialogue, collaboration in defence, and the common goal in advancing the stability in the Middle East.
