Before the talks between the US and Iran, new tensions arose in Pakistan.

Just before the significant peace talks in Pakistan, new tensions have emerged between the United States and Iran. These negotiations are also aimed at negotiating ceasefire and de-escalation of conflict, yet the circumstances are getting increasingly trickier.

A temporary ceasefire was earlier agreed by both the countries. Nonetheless, the recent disagreements and stiff words used by both parties are now raising questions as to whether the negotiations will yield any results.

The US team has already flown off to Islamabad and the Iranian team too has arrived. The talks are being hosted in Pakistan which hopes to assist both parties in coming to an agreement.

Disagreements Over Conditions

The biggest issue is that the US and Iran differ on the conditions under which the talks will commence.

According to the Iranian officials, certain significant points of the agreement are yet to be adhered to. According to them:

The implementation of a ceasefire in Lebanon is yet to be implemented.
Iranian frozen assets have not been released
There is still a lack of trust between the two sides.

Iran has made it clear that until these conditions are met, then negotiations cannot commence in a proper manner.

Even before talks could commence, Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf indicated that these problems would put the talks to a halt. He also implied that Iran will only proceed in case the US honors the agreed terms.

Meanwhile, the United States has expressed concerns on the intentions of Iran. Ex-President Donald Trump has once again threatened of new attacks should Iran fail to co-operate.

Both parties have made these bold claims that have heightened tensions and made the situation more uncertain.

Before Talks High Risk Situation

This is turning out to be more critical with each side exhibiting elements of mistrust and conflict preparedness.

The military of Iran has threatened to retaliate in case its trust is betrayed once more. The authorities indicated that they are ready to take action.

This implies that a possibility of conflict still exists before even the talks start.

Among the key issues, there are:

Lack of trust between the US and Iran
Continuing conflicts in Lebanon.
Menaces of new war.
Lack of understanding on terms of ceasefire.

Due to these problems, analysts note that the negotiations are already strained.

Host country, Pakistan, is attempting to contain the situation. The government has been providing good security and is urging the two sides to concentrate on dialogue rather than fighting.
