Oman Olympic Committee Holds Ordinary General Assembly Meeting

Opening of the Meeting

An ordinary meeting of the General Assembly of the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) took place at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat. His Highness Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, Chairman of the OOC, and the board members, representatives of the General Assembly, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth attended that session.

Review of Previous Year Performance

In the meeting, the Chairman emphasized the fact that the past year was momentous to the Committee, as it was the year of the election of the present Board of Directors and transition to the organization. The Assembly endorsed the annual report of the Committee and spoke about the successes in sports on the national, regional, and international levels.

Budget and Financial Matters

The Assembly accepted and discussed the final audited accounts and recommended a budget for the next year. Strategies had been laid to enhance programs to assist young athletes and enhance technical and administrative potentials in training programmes.

Development Plans

It put emphasis on sports that had high prospects in the Olympics, and the programs involved producing young athletes and improving the expertise of the technical personnel via the Oman Olympic Academy. The Assembly also gave its consent to the renewal of the Sports Disputes and Arbitration Committee to give continuity in settling the disputes related to sports.

Conclusion

The meeting concluded with a focus on supporting the growth of Oman’s Olympic movement and sports sector, even at the time of difficult relations between the region and Iran, Israel, and the United States.
